தமிழக அரசின் தமிழ்நாடு விளையாட்டு மேம்பாட்டு ஆணையம் மற்றும் இளைஞர் நலன் துறை சார்பில் மண்டல அளவில் ஹாக்கி போட்டிகள் நடைபெற்று வருகிறது. ஆதன் ஒரு பகுதியாக தென்மண்டல அளவிலான ஹாக்கி போட்டிகள் வரும் 18ந்தேதி வரை கோவில்பட்டி கிருஷ்ணாநகரில் உள்ள செயற்கை புல்வெளி ஹாக்கி மைதானத்தில் நடைபெறுகிறது. இதில் தூத்துக்குடி,நெல்லை,கன்னியாகுமாரி, விருதுநகர், சிவகங்கை மாவட்ட அணிகள் பங்கேற்றுள்ளன. லீக் முறையில் நடைபெறும் இந்த போட்டியின் முதல் ஆட்டத்தில் தூத்துக்குடி – விருதுநகர் மாவட்ட ஹாக்கி அணிகள் மோதின. ஆட்டம் தொடங்கியது முதலே விறுவிறுப்பாக நடைபெற்ற இந்த போட்டியின் இறுதியில் இரு அணிகளும் தலா 3 கோல்களை அடித்ததால் போட்டி சமநிலையில் முடிவுற்றது. இதனால் இரு அணிகளுக்கும் தலா ஒரு புள்ளிகள் வழங்கப்பட்டன. 2வது ஆட்டத்தில் திருநெல்வேலி – சிவகங்கை மாவட்ட அணிகள் மோதின. போட்டி தொடங்கியது முதலே திருநெல்வேலி மாவட்ட அணி வீரர்கள் ஆதிக்கம் செலுத்தினர். திருநெல்வேலி ஹாக்கி வீரர்கள் தொடர்ந்து கோல்கள் அடித்தனர். போட்டியின் இறுதி முடிவில் 21 -0 என்ற கோல்கணக்கில் திருநெல்வேலி அணி இமாலைய வெற்றி பெற்றது. போட்டியின் இறுதியில் முதல் 2 இடங்களை பிடிக்கும் அணிகள் மாநில அளவிலான போட்டிக்கு தகுதி பெறும்.

Hockey tournaments start at the South-East level in Kovilpatti Regional level hockey tournaments are being held on behalf of Tamilnadu Sports Development Authority and Youth Welfare Department. Athan is part of the South Indian hockey tournaments coming up on 18th May at Kovilpatti Artificial Lawn Hockey Stadium in Krishnanagar. These include Thoothukudi, Nellai, Kanyakumari, Virudhunagar and Sivagangai District teams. In the first match of the league match, the drinking - Virudhunagar district hockey teams clashed. At the end of the match, the two teams finished with 3 goals and ended in the match. This resulted in two points each. In the 2nd match, Tirunelveli - Sivagangai district teams clashed. Tirunelveli district team players dominated since the competition began. Tirunelveli hockey players scored the following goals. At the end of the match, the Tirunelveli team won in the 21-0 The teams that receive the first 2 seats at the end of the competition will qualify for state-level competition.
