மார்ச்21 ஆம் நாளை ஆண்டுதோறும் உலக கவிதை தினமாக (World Poetry Day) ஐக்கிய நாடுகள்கல்வி, அறிவியல் மற்றும் கலாச்சார அமைப்புஅறிவித்துள்ளது. 1999ஆம் ஆண்டில் யுனெஸ்கோ அறிவித்தாலும் சில நாடுகள் மட்டுமே இதனை செயல்படுத்தி இன்று உலகம் முழுக்க படிப்படியாக கவிதை நாளை கொண்டாடி வருகின்றன.இலக்கிய அமைப்புகளின் செயல்பாட்டை ஊக்குவிக்கும் வகையிலும், கவிதை எழுதுவதை ஆர்வப்படுத்தும் நோக்கிலும் அனைத்து நிலை இலக்கிய அமைப்புகள் இவ்விழாவை நடத்த யுனெஸ்கோ கேட்டுக் கொண்டுள்ளது. சர்வதேச கவிதை இயக்கங்களுக்குபுதிய அங்கீகாரம் மற்றும் உத்வேகம் கொடுக்கவேண்டும்”,,, எழுதி வெளியிடுவதை மற்றும் உலகம் முழுவதும் கவிதை கற்பித்தல் மற்றும், படித்தல்ஊக்குவிப்பது என்ற நோக்கில் உலக கவிதை தினம் கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது

The World Poetry Day annually marks the 21st anniversary of the United Nations, Science and Cultural Organization. Although UNESCO announced in 1999, only a few countries have implemented it and are now gradually celebrating poetry all over the world. UNESCO has requested all the literary organizations to celebrate this as a way to encourage the functioning of literary organizations and to write poetry.
